About TED Labs
First and foremost it is a place where we’re launching our API initiative — our first foray into making TEDTalks available to the developer community. No more scraping the site, ingesting RSS, sniffing iOS traffic, or reverse engineering our feeds. We’re making our data available to you with a commitment to build a robust support system to help you create something wonderful with TEDTalks. Eventually we’ll open up a platform to the world, but for now we’re starting with an open call to find 50 developers with fantastic concepts and execution skill to road test the API.
In the coming months, we hope you’ll spend time here on TED’s Open Source community to meet our fantastic engineers. They’ll be blogging regularly and sharing behind-the-scenes stories of TED’s technological journey. Stay tuned for announcements about hack-a-thons, forums and more. We’re excited about creating a place for the open source community to hangout with us. We try to give to the community, stir curious minds and give as much to those who give to us. In the timeless words of Humphrey Bogart, "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
